This newspaper comic strip 'Boys Will Be Boys', which only ran from 7 February 1909 to 9 May 1909 in The New York World, was created by Harry Grant Dart. The theme, mischievousness by pubescent boys, was very common at the time. In this strip, a headmaster hires a boxer at "Professor Soakem's Boxing Academy," so that his fight-prone pupils will get what they deserve. Although they are a bit anxious to take on such a sturdy-looking newcomer, it is the boy who wants to snitch on them that gets hit. Harry Dart previously created 'The Explorigator' comic, also for The New York World, in 1908. |
