Hanco Kolk & Peter de Wit

Bryant the Brigand with Giles de Geus

Bryant the Brigand, by Kolk & De Wit Many foreign visitors ask us for "a nice comic from Holland." We often recommend the English translation of a 'Bryant the Brigand' story by Kolk & de Wit, called 'The 7 Provinces'.

Created by two of the funniest guys in the country, Peter de Wit and Hanco Kolk, Bryant the Brigand is an unsurpassed humorous adventure series set in Dutch history during the heroic national struggle against the Spaniards. Asterix – move over.

This beautiful, 48-page hardcover book sells for only €11.95 (EURO) for the full-color English version.

Marten Toonder

The Bommel Concordance

Bommel-concordance
Marten Toonder, the godfather of Dutch comics, was the creator of Tom Poes and Olivier B. Bommel, two characters who shared countless adventures and earned their fame in The Netherlands and abroad. Toonder introduced many new words into the Dutch language through these adventures, and for anyone who wants to know when these words first appeared, and when each story was published, this 200-page Bommel concordance is indispensible.

Published by Les Éditions Lambiek in 1997, this dutch-only compilation by Henk van den Ham with illustrations by Marten Toonder, features an embossed, velvety hardback cover. They are still available from Lambiek for € 45.00 (EURO).

George Herriman's Krazy Kat Sunday pages

Krazy Kat strip detail from The Cleveland News, by George Herriman, circa 1925
George Herriman's Krazy Kat strip from The Cleveland News, circa 1925
We are delighted to announce that we managed to put our hands on a large amount of black & white and color Sunday newspaper pages of the legendary comic, Krazy Kat, by George Herriman.

Krazy Kat is seen, inside and outside the comic world, as the best comic strip of the last century. The surrealistic character of the comic has been a big influence on both the field of contemporary art and comic art throughout the world.

We were happy to share our joy with you, over a glass or two, at the opening of this unique exhibition on 9 October 2005, when we presented "Krazy & Ignatz: The Complete Sunday Strips, Vol. 2."

This brick of a book collects the first five Krazy & Ignatz soft-cover editions (1000 copies, never to be reprinted) published by Fantagraphic Books. This beautiful edition contains the years 1925 through 1934, in a single hardcover book. Fantagraphics is planning to publish the years 1916-24 and Krazy Kat kolor strips 1935-44, in a similar bound version.

These wonderful, historic items are available from Lambiek.
