Opening party: 28 January 2005

Dear friends of Lambiek,

First of all, we wish you a happy and healthy 2005.

Here at Lambiek, it's gonna be an exciting year with all the changes we informed you about last year. The gallery will open soon and we'd like to invite you to celebrate this event with a smashing party on 28 January 2005 at 18.00 hrs. Under the influence of alcohol and partycrackers, you will enjoy our large collection of originals and silkscreen posters by artists from all corners of the earth. You will also have the opportunity to meet the young, enthusiastic graduate Bas van der Zee, who will hopefully help lift Lambiek (under supervision of former store owner Kees Kousemaker) further into the modern world. So if you happen to be in the neighborhood, don't hesitate to drop by. We're located right next to Mike's Bikes on the Kerkstraat in Amsterdam.

Lambiek.Net moves to new server

Our website featuring the Lambiek Comiclopedia has moved as well, and with 7000 pages already on the new server, it's running smoothly. We plan to build a more elaborate on-line store in a few months - meanwhile our old store is still accessible, and you can also order from our specials page, or send us your wish list and we'll let you know what's available.

"Grand old man of comics"
Will Eisner passed away

The Spirit by Will Eisner
The sad news reached us about the death of Will Eisner, comicbook pioneer and dear friend of Lambiek and Kees Kousemaker for over 20 years. We are very grateful for his support and the permission he gave us to produce a Jiddisch edition of his A Contract with God in 1983 and the Exhibition 'Eisner's Personal Collection' in 1992. Until last year, there was still a heartfelt correspondence and with his death the comic world and Lambiek lose a great source of inspiration and, most of all; a captivating and cordial personality. Our thoughts are with his lovely wife Ann and we wish her all the strenghth in the world.

Kees Kousemaker's Amsterdam

Every Saturday, the supplement of newspaper Het Parool features a more or less well-known inhabitant of Amsterdam, who tells about his or her favorite spots. On 18 December 2004, it was Kees Kousemaker's turn. To read the article (in Dutch), click on the image (120k).

As you can see, the new store is really shaping up. We are still unpacking comics and putting them away, and we're also working hard to make the gallery space ready for the big opening on 28 January.
