Arie van Vliet studied Psychology at the Catholic University of Nijmegen. However, he chose for a career as an artist and began working as an independent illustrator and comic artist in 1997. He has illustrated the albums about Bergen op Zoom, The Hague and Eindhoven in the so-called "city comics" series 'Jules en Ollie'.

He settled in Tiel in 2000. He has made the weekly comic strip 'Peerke' for the Tiel Actueel section of De Zakengids. He also illustrated a couple of books with 'Flipje', the mascot of jam factory Hero, that was originally drawn by Harmsen van Beek. In 2008, he drew the educational comic album 'Het Goud van Kampen' for Pear Productions.
