Olivier Saive studied art at the Institut Saint-Luc in Liège, but he only stayed there for one week. His first work was assisting Stéphane Colman with the coloring of 'White le Choc'. He created his album, 'Virage' at Magic Strip in 1984. He then went into military service, and created the album 'La Ligne Universelle' afterwards in 1987. In addition, he cooperated on several advertising jobs and infographics projects.

In 1990, he made a comic version of the television puppet 'Tatayet' in cooperation with Dejeneffe and Raoul Cauvin. Two years later, he revived the classic Raymond Macherot character 'Chaminou' at Marsu-Productions. Saive has also been present in the magazine Spirou from the early 1990s. There, he did numerous illustrations and short stories, as well as series like 'Les Maitres du Monde' (text by Janssens) and 'Michou Gropou' (text by Zidrou). At Casterman, he created such albums as 'Les Jeux Sont Faits' (2000, text by Dugomier) and 'Maman et Moi' (2001, text by Marylène Bruno).
