Born in Etterbeek, Michel Ledent studied interior decoration and illustration at the Saint-Luc in Brussels. During his military service, he became a draughtsman for the Belgian navy. He did his first comics work for the magazine Micro-Systèmes, for which he worked from 1989 to 1993. He adapted the pseudonym of Midam, and joined the magazine Spirou in 1992. There, he began doing illustration work for the "Zig Zag" section.

It was in the videogame section where he developed the famous 'Kid Paddle' character. 'Kid Paddle' soon became one of the most popular gag series of the magazine, and eventually got its own magazine (published by Disney Hachette Presse from 2002) and was adapted into an animated cartoon series. The often used videogame gags in the strip eventually got their own spin-off, called 'Game Over', which is created in collaboration with the artist Adam.

In 1993, Midam had a brief appearance in Hello Bédé with the first gags starring 'Le Gowap' with text by Mythic, a series that was later continued by Curd Ridel. In 1997, he teamed up Clarke and created the series 'Durant les Travaux, l'Exposition Continue' for the Humour Libre collection of Dupuis.
