Denis Lapière

Denis Lapière is a prominent scenario writer of contemporary comics. After having a bookshop in Charleroi he started writing comic scenarios in the mid-80s. For Éric Maltaite he wrote a few stories that were published in Spirou, followed by 'Mono Jim' for l'Echo de Savannes. For that same magazine, he worked with Jean-Philippe Stassen on 'Bahamas' and 'Bullwhite'. At the same time, he wrote 'Mauro Caldi' for Michel Constant and 'Jerry et Line' for Peter Pluut. In 1989 he returned to Spirou with the series 'Alice et Léopold' (with Olivier Wozniak) and 'Charly' (with Magda).

In 1991 he took over the classic 'Tif et Tondu' series with Alain Sikorski from Will and Desberg. After the final story of 'Tif et Tondu', Lapière and Sikorski continued their work in the detective genre with series 'La Clé du Mystère' in 2000. In 1992 Lapière worked with Stassen again for the Dupuis Aire Libre collection: 'Le Bar du Vieux Français'. After making a story with only Pierre Bailly, the two are accompanied by Vincent Mathy and the team created the juvenile series 'Ludo' in Spirou.

With Gilles Mezzomo, Lapière started 'Luka' in 1996 and with Chauzy, he made 'Clara' in 1999. In the 2000s, he wrote 'Un Peu de Fumée Bleue', 'Le Tour de Valse' (both art by Ruben Pellejero) and 'Agadamgorok' (with Pierre Bailly) in the Aire Libre collection. He also launched the comical series 'Oscar' with Christian Durieux (Spirou). Denis Lapière has won several prizes for his work and it is said that he has also written under a pseudonym, that he doesn't want to reveal.
