Joop Geesink was a Dutch comic artist, illustrator and animator. He contributed to comic magazine Doe Mee in the 1930s. In 1939, Joop Geesink started the Geesink-Toonder Studios, together with Marten Toonder. They specialized in making comics and animations. Geesink gradually evolved more towards puppetry, and in 1943 he left to start his own studio.

He has been involved with the creation of many comics, such as 'Piet Spriet en Ko de Koe', 'Fokkie Flink', 'Flip en Flap' and 'Pukkie Planta'. After Geesink's death in 1984, the studio was continued by his daughter Louise. Geesink is probably best remembered as the creator of the puppet 'Loekie de Leeuw', that was used in animations during commercial breaks on Dutch television.
