After a first publication in L'Écureuil magazine, Louis Cance made his professional debut in Johnny Texas magazine. There, he drew the adventures of 'Red Devil' in the late 1950s. From 1965, he drew several comics for such magazines as Record, Lisette-Nade and Amis-Coop. In 1967, Cance took over the 'Pif le Chien' series in Pif magazine. At the same time, he worked for Fleurus publishers, where he drew 'Pépé Dynamite' in Formule 1 magazine. In 1973 he launched Hop! magazine, which is considered one of France's best comics information magazines.
