Teresa Camara Pestana was born in Setubal, Portugal. She lived for twelve years in Mozambique and for fourteen years in Germany before settling down in Portugal again. She became a comic artist and founded the undergound comix anthology Gambuzine, which features comics with a love of dark humor and deep questions, by international comic artists such as Markus Huber, Rautie, Wittek, Isabel Kreitz, Marcuse and Anke Feuchtenberger. Many exhibitions about Gambuzine have been held in Portugal and in other European countries. She chronicled her life in Africa in the comic 'Postais de Viagem'.
